Mr. PB&J

May 28, 2019

Hey food truck nation!

This week, we are highlighting a unique food truck that hits close to home. I think we all ate our fair shares of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches growing up, I know I did! Mr. PB&J is taking this classic sandwich and bringing it to a whole other culinary level. Alex Valle is the proud owner of this beloved food truck and he’s bringing his PB&J sandwiches and so much more to all parts of Miami Dade and Broward. Say it with me! It’s peanut butter jelly time!

It all started when Alex was 15. He was an avid foodie at heart and loved to create new and exciting dishes that you do not see every day in the kitchen. He’s been working in the food industry for about 19 years now and has worked many positions at local Miami restaurants which have given him the knowledge and expertise to do what he does every day. Like other food truck owners, Alex got tired of working long and strenuous hours for someone else and decided to make the ultimate entrepreneurial move and decided to open his very own food truck. Alex thought long and hard about what he would sell and knew he wanted to sell original dishes that have not been done before. Mr. PB&J has been open now since 2012 and has quite the reputable reputation to go along with it! The name he chose is very fitting and pretty self-explanatory, but what you may not know is that Alex is serving up way more than just PB&J's.

At Mr. PB&J you can find an assortment of gourmet PB&J's (of course), sensational burgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, grilled cheese, croquettas and much more! We asked Alex and he listed out a couple of favorite options for you to try the next time you stop by Mr. PB&J. First, is their “El Fuego Chicken Eggo”. This insane sandwich is comprised of toasted Eggo waffles, covered in peanut butter, topped with perfectly fried chicken, which is then drizzled in a buffalo ranch sauce and served with a cup of maple syrup. Next up is their mouth-watering Waffle Burger; this dish is not for the faint of heart! Alex starts with toasting two Eggo waffles and tops that with peanut butter and pepper jelly. He then adds his perfectly cooked burger patty, which is covered in a layer of brie cheese, topped with a couple of crispy bacon strips and serves it with a cup of maple syrup. Alex also offers truffle fries and even homemade shakes to pair with his wild sandwich creations!

We had a great time this week meeting up with Alex and learning all about the different PB&J sandwich combinations he has on his menu. Mr. PB&J has even won “Best Bites” at Brew Miami FIU, is constantly participating in South Beach’s Food and Wine Festival and has even appeared on a few local news stations highlighting his out of this world sandwiches. When you stop by, be sure to mention the Food Truck Guys sent you! This, my friends, is definitely FTG approved!

Until next time,

Kellee O.
